Benjamin's Early Homes Benjamin Ames Kimball was born in lower Boscawen, NH that part of town known as "Fisherville." He was born in the Plummer House next East of the Johnson Tavern (or Bonney's Tavern). The house was built by Nathan Chandler, son of John Chandler, in 1806, and was owned by Mr. Chandler until 1829. Mr. George D. Varney purchased the land, house and water power in the center part of the village. Mr. Varney owned it a short period of time and then it passed to the United States bank at Portsmouth. It was purchased by Benjamin Kimball in 1830-1831 and Benjamin Ames was born in this house in 1833. At the age of sixteen, he and his widowed mother moved to Concord to live with his brother John. *Deacon Cogswell's house on Boscawen Plain opposite the Congregational meeting-house *In 1845 Lowell, Massachusetts with brother John and Mother *In 1847 the family moved to Lawrence, Massachusetts *1849 the family came to Concord
